How do you know when you are being flooded with emotion?

You will notice your thoughts will be storytelling (catastrophizing, making the person you are talking into the villain, etc.)

Once flooded and you are storytelling, you will find someone or something to blame in order to relieve the pressure.

INSTEAD:
Stop talking

Get a drink of water. Take a deep breath.

Go for a walk/run.

Ask yourself: “What is it that I need at this moment.”

When we are flooded our thoughts are not fully in the present moment.
