This week in class we discussed the power of prayer and meditation. When we learn to quiet the mind we can work on quieting the voice in the mind that is constantly chatting.

YOU are NOT the voice in your head! I know it feels like you are but the voice in your mind is really not coming from YOU. It is coming from past experiences, beliefs, hurts, and fears and it’s super dramatic and exaggerates everything in order to keep you safe/away from growth/comfortable/stuck/repeating negative habits, etc. It will keep you in reactive mode. Learning to let go of what the constant chatter of the mind is saying takes work/intention/mindfulness/meditation/spirituality. You can learn to lean away from what the chatter is saying and let it pass by. But learning to become an observer to the chatter rather than the reactor takes intention.
When a problem is disturbing you don’t ask “What should I do about it?” Rather ask “What part of me is being disturbed by this?” (Michael Singer). You gain nothing by being bothered by life’s events. It doesn’t change the world it only makes you suffer. In wisdom and love we can have impact upon reality and learn to harmonize with reality in a loving rational mind.
