Many times we can be our own worst enemy. We can struggle with anxiety, self-criticism, doubt, fear of missing out, disappointment and more.
A powerful first step to free yourself is to start greeting these emotions and naming them. There is a phrase that says “name it, to tame it”. So here is a little trick. The next time you are flooded with difficult emotions try this:
“Hello Worry,
Hello Jealousy,
Hello Doubt,
Hello Anxiety,
I see you.”
Greeting your emotions by name when they appear will allow you to create a little distance between you and your thoughts which can help you avoid getting entangled in an unproductive thought spiral. It seems simple, but it works wonders.
