Toxicity

During the holidays we hear about toxic family issues. Many families have toxicity and dysfunction as part of their old pattern of familiar suffering. This holiday I encourage you to find your own toxicity. Each of us has our own share of toxicity within our personality. The encouraging thing is that we can learn to become more aware and eliminate how we contribute to the toxicity in our lives when we are willing to do the work. ⁣

Here are some questions to ask yourself as you identify your toxicity: ⁣
What is my part in this situation? ⁣
What am I feeling? ⁣
What is my interpretation of the situation? What choices can I make in this moment to help me live in my integrity? ⁣
How is my behavior contributing? ⁣
What could I change personally to make room for something new?⁣

As I write this post I am aware of how much editing it has taken me to get my thoughts out and expressed in the way I desire. Do we take as much care when we edit our personal lives, thoughts, behaviors, etc?⁣

Remember, YOUR life is your MASTER PIECE and master pieces need to be edited often in order to be their best version. Life gives us ample opportunity to edit ourselves. Be ruthless as you eliminate things that do not help you become the person you desire to become. ⁣

This season, see if you can use the difficult moments to lead you to better self-understanding and identify opportunities that present moments to challenge your old interpretations.⁣

How have you been at editing your life? If you’re like me, your life has areas that could be better with some editing. And some old behaviors are sitting there in the trash requiring discipline to not pick them back up. I know because I’m right there with you! I have to remember the important rule in editing- “give yourself some distance and pay close attention to tone, flow, and content and be ruthless, less is more.”

Here’s to finding new ways to dealing with old patterns.
