A counseling session is 50 minutes long.

At Mind Helm, we only take HSAs, but we do provide a superbill for out-of-network providers.

We have chosen not to take insurance for several reasons, all with our clients in mind.

One reason is that we are on a wellness model and do not give you a diagnosis. When working with insurance, a diagnosis would be required.

Another reason is that we believe that good therapy does not always have to be in the office. Our therapeutic walks are very popular and can be a beneficial therapeutic intervention to assist in the relief of distressful symptoms.

Also, we believe our clients should be in charge of their mental health and the number of times they choose to have therapy.

Lastly, we desire to offer you the most up-to-date coping skills and treatments. To do this, it requires constant training, developing technology, and acquiring a vast resource library to assist you in your optimal mental health growth.

We honor growth and potential as essential values, and we are committed to bringing you only the best in counseling.

YES!

Couples work is one of the most important gifts you can offer a relationship. Emotionally Focused Therapy is designed to help you identify negative patterns and to express your feelings and needs to your partner in a way that develops a deeper connection.

There is a lot of evidence-based science behind this therapy; and for many couples, it is a game changer.

No matter what stage of relationship, counseling and motivation can drastically change the relationship.

Yes we do! It is under our Soul Food specialties.

Some clients desire that therapy come from a Christian frame of reference and be incorporated into the therapeutic conversation.

This is a great option for you if that is how you are feeling. During sessions you will be able to identify how your faith can help you heal in your emotional life.

EMDR is very effective in treating trauma. I have also seen amazing results in treating anxiety with EMDR.

EMDR stands for eye movement desensitization reprocessing. It works by using bilateral movements to process painful memories. It is highly researched, and it is an essential tool in the healing of trauma.

Postpartum depression is a critical time to address. Often women can start feeling much better after just a few sessions. Shortly after having a baby can be a stressful time as your hormones and emotions are balancing out, and it is an excellent time to get counseling.

Our therapeutic walk therapy is one of my personal favorites. It is counseling, only while on a walk/jog. We have some beautiful areas for walking around the office. The first five minutes will be at the office where you can grab a water bottle and a pair of sunglasses (if you forget yours). We will spend that time discussing subjects that you want to explore while out on our walk.

We will then go and walk/jog the perfectly timed walk/jog while addressing your identified concerns.

When we return, we will use the last five minutes to stretch to relieve stress within the body, have a snack, and a refreshing glass of water.

These sessions are powerful and a great way to learn how to use your body in releasing difficult emotions.

NO. The therapist has to do their work all the time. Maybe even more than the average person. It takes a lot to sit and listen to issues that are common to the human experience and not work on your own human experience.

Many therapists, I included, meet with other therapists, go to therapy themselves, and work on implementing strategies that we teach. Often, you end up inspiring your therapist without even knowing it.

Well, that’s a good question. I wanted to end on an even number, so I went to 10, but I could have stopped at 9. If you do have any more questions, call me! I love answering questions.

Every day is another chance to change your life.

Take your first step.
